My new flat iron

Solia 1/4 inch flat iron from Folica.com

So I’ve had my new flat iron for five days, and I’ve straightened my hair with it twice now. Besides it taking forever to do because I’m inexperienced, I LOVE it. So worth the $88. My hair is silky and soft now. I haven’t burned myself or fried my hair *knocks on wood*. Folica.com has free shipping on orders over $75, and also sent me a free heat resistant mat/pouch. Now I won’t melt anything! :lol

I’m thinking of doing some kind of picture tutorial, but I should probably wait until I get better.

Earlier this week I went and bought some new make up brushes that are actually paint brushes. Now before you look at me like I’m nuts, watch this video. There’s one brush I’m thinking about taking back to Michael’s though, and not because it sucks. I have a small face, and the brush I got just seems to be too big for my makeup application. I also got a few little other things makeup related, but I’ll talk about those at another time.

I know for sure I’m going to make some kind of page or tutorial about these brushes and my other goodies. However, the whole I should probably wait until I get better thing comes into play again. :P

Mid-August Update

Written on August 15, 2008 @ 9:05 am

So I’ve been a little busy and wanted to make a “megapost” about what I’ve been up to. So here it goes. Be forewarned, it’s a little long, and I tend to ramble.

I finally saw The Dark Knight, and it was great! I’ll do my best to leave spoilers out of this for the people that haven’t seen it (what are you waiting for?). I definitely want to go see it again though. When I heard Heath Ledger was cast to play the Joker early last year, I was a little skeptical. But WOW, his performance was amazing. It’s a shame that he won’t be around to reprise his roll in the third movie. Just make sure you go to a theater with comfy seats.

When Nate saw the little teaser/preview of Pineapple Express on the Superbad DVD, he said we were going to go see it. Stoner movies don’t really entertain me, but getting Nate to go to the movies is hard enough. So if there’s a movie he wants to see that bad, then why not? The movie was ok. Nothing really all that spectacular, but I did laugh a lot. I wouldn’t really want to see it again, but I’m pretty sure I will be once it’s out on DVD if someone gets it.

Rant: So since my hair is really short (to my standards), I’ve been looking at buying a flat iron to make my very curly hair manageable. I was considering getting the ISO flat iron either from an online reseller or at my local mall. I decided to go to the mall for it because I wanted it that day.

The douche guy that tried to sell me one thinks he’s cutting me some sort of deal by selling it to me for $199 because the “retail price” on the box is $250. Yea that’s what all the boxes say, yet people are still selling them for less. A year ago the same stand/people tried to sell me one for $90, originally $250, and it was because I kept saying no, so that’s what I did this time as well.

To make a long story short, he got down to $120 after he took my “free gift” away. I didn’t like how he was talking down to me and he was making me feel uncomfortable. So I said sorry, thanks for your time, but not today. He went to say loudly that I should be sorry for playing games and wasting his time. Wtf? Kettle, meet pot. Then as I walked away, he starts yelling at me and says that I’ll never get it for this price ever. Um, it’s a flat iron, calm the fuck down, it’s not that serious.

Oh so anyways, I ended up ordering a Solia flat iron from Folica.com. It’ll be here Monday, so I’ll write more about it then.

And some quickies:
- Nate turned 21 on the 10th of August. He had a BBQ. It was fun, sorta.
- I’m almost done with the website I’m working on.
- Nate and I got to the 3rd prestige on Call of Duty 4.
- It’s been way too hot. :(

PS: If you’re interested in the ISO International flat iron, you can buy them at dutchcaptian.com for $79.99 + shipping.

Some sad news

So um, yea it’s a little hard to talk about but, aye here it goes. I had to attend a funeral today, and it was hard. Almost a week ago, Nate’s Dad passed away. There really isn’t anything I can say except that he’ll be greatly missed. I thought I would have more to say about the whole situation, but I really don’t. It was just so unexpected, and his family doesn’t know (I think) what the cause was.

On a bit of an up note, I’ve been doing some behind the scenes stuff with CTM.org. Nothing spectacular, but it’s getting there. Another thing that happened this week was that I got my first non-family member website client. Yayz for me. :D

I also got my hair cut and highlighted on Friday. I don’t really like now that it’s not straight. It’s too short, and I don’t feel pretty or sexy or whatever anymore. I feel like I look like some wannabe rocker boy. I love the color of it now with the highlights, I really just wish it was longer. It looks fine when it’s straight I suppose, but because my hair is naturally curly, the curl pulls my hair up and blah. It’s too short. :-/

And I’m back.

Neopet All-Star shield So I disappeared for a little bit, but I have good news. I reached All-Star ranking in the Altador Cup on Neopets. Yes I know, I’m a total nerd for getting excited over that, but I don’t care. :happydance

I’m going to update a few things tomorrow. I can finally get back to doing other things now that I’m done busting my ass over a game lol. And just to avoid any copyright stuff, the shield image above is an original image by Neopets Inc., and I am in no way claiming that I own it in any way, shape, or form. There. :)

Altador Cup on Neopets

Written on June 22, 2008 @ 11:12 am

First off, I’d like to say happy summer to everyone! It doesn’t feel like we’ve had spring here, just an extended winter.

Anywho, I’ve been working on a few things for my site that I’d like to add soon. I’m currently trying to figure out the dynamic sidebar for Wordpress. I’m following the tutorial that Melissa at guitarangel.net wrote up, but since I’m still a bit of a newbie with Wordpress code I’m taking it slow.

I’ve been a bit distracted by the annual Altador Cup that began on Neopets last week. It’s day six into double round robin, and I’m already way ahead where I was last year at this time. I’m having fun, but I wish my team was winning more. I think we’re just off to a rough start.

If you have no idea what Neopets is create an account and try them out. Now if you do know what Neopets is, but haven’t joined a team yet, why don’t you join me on Darigan? :)
